Alternative Energy in Boston

The MBTA is making strides to help the environment here in Boston by providing an alternative to driving for millions of commuters a day. On their website, the MBTA states the following:

Working collaboratively with the Environmental Protection Agency grant program, we're working on a first-in-the-nation pilot project to develop a model for locomotive engine pollution control devices and our efforts to develop an Environmental Management System have received national recognition and serve as our platform to identify new opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle.

We're working on environmentally friendly T-Projects everyday, and making enormous environmental strides-retiring our oldest diesel buses, replacing them with hundreds of new CNG busses and reducing the average age of our buses from 14 to just 4 years.

The MBTA is a prime example of a company changing the way it does business for the good of the environment.
